Debbie Davies is an experienced dramatherapist who has worked with a variety of client groups including primary age children, older children excluded from school, female prisoners, and refugees and asylum seekers. Currently she works exclusively with asylum seekers and refugees as she finds work with these clients, who are survivors of severe traumatic events and often suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, to be complex, inspiring and rewarding.
Prior to training as a therapist, Debbie worked for many years in customer focused roles.
Following her degree, Debbie qualified as a secondary school drama teacher. This allowed her to work with children who struggled with learning, running groups for children with special educational needs and supporting them in lessons.
With a desire to understand the complexities of the issues faced by these children and their families and to incorporate her love for drama, Debbie studied for her Masters in Dramatherapy, a vocation that she finds totally rewarding.
